Market, Merchandise, and Merriment

Wow!! What a busy and fantastic 2 weeks it has been! First of all, we went to the Home, Gift, Garden, and Jewelry Market! Now this was a first for all of us, and we were soo excited! We started off the day with a little more excitement than any of us wanted when we had a tire blowout on the interstate. We all looked at one another with a look of "We Need Help, ASAP!" Thankfully, we were able to make it to a gas station, and Taylor found a sweet man, named Ringo, who saved the day! I was really excited about going because there wasn't a lot of pressure, and I could search for the perfect things to add to FSB! And yes, I was completely excited about what we were able to find and can't wait to show y'all!! And keep tuned because it's great, esp some fabulous TUNICS everyone will LOVE!!
We found some great new and different vendors for our jewelry! So whenever you're needing the perfect look to finish off your outfits stop by because I assure you, we have a little bit of everything! This picture is just a hint of all the fabulous-ness we have to bring you this season!!
And in case you weren't sure, STATEMENT NECKLACES will be all the rage this season! Make sure you have at least one in your closet, and we have a variety of styles, colors, and choices to find your perfect match!!

Also, we can't wait to bring you these new Frocket Pocket T's! They're a comfortable T-Shirt with a fabulous design pocket, which you can have monogrammed or not! Whatever fits YOU best!! These will be great gifts and everyday wear, so keep watching for when these show up at the store because I am sure they're going to fly out of here!! 8)

After going to Dallas, I headed down to New Orleans to visit with one of our new vendors, and thankfully, this trip had the added bonus of being able to stay with one of my best friends, Destiny Cowdin-Lynch! I was able to purchase a few new things for all of our fabulous customers, visit with good friends, and enjoy a traditional Mardi Gras parade!

To say I had fun is such an understatement!! And if you're ever in New Orleans, you must visit Destiny and her mom's antique store, Ecru! Such great finds http://ecruantiques.com/!!

And finally, to finish off all of our traveling, Mom and I headed back to Dallas for the Apparel Market! Getting to this market wasn't nearly as eventful, but it was still filled with lots of LAUGHTER!! And if we do say so ourselves, the clothes we've picked out to bring y'all in the coming months are absolutely fantastic!! We have several new brands coming, which we'll still be able to provide at great prices! And of course, we visited some of our tried and true favorite brands and designers!! We're so excited about what the future of FSB has to offer, so stay tuned to see all of our new purchases!!

Change a Girl's World

Well, like most women, some days doing my hair can be the most stressful part of my day! I have really fine hair, which can be very tricky... And much to the dismay of my mom and sisters, I love to TEASE!!! I mean the rattier the better to get the volume I wish I had. But recently, I came across a YouTube video that has completely rocked my world, i.e. enter the "Sock Bun"! Now, I wasn't sure I had enough hair or was even capable of doing such things with my loathsome locks, but low and behold, with an excellent sock, very little teasing, and hair spray, I have made it a staple in my wardrobe! The sock bun is an easy way to give yourself a really polished look and complete your outfit, especially if you accentuate it with a smoky eye or red lip!

Now, this perfectly crafted bun can be worn on top of  your head using a high pony tail or lower ponytail depending on your pony tail preference. And yes, it can easily worn with shorter hair if you use a very low pony tail and roll it up to your head!

Obviously, you'll need a sock (preferably clean) :). Simply follow the instructions above, and you'll have one of the main components to have this magnificent look. My suggestion- try to use a sock close to your hair color. It will be easily disguisable and blend if you were to have any miscues.

And finally, simply follow the instructions above. If those aren't clear enough for you, simply google "how to do a sock bun" and you'll have a plethora of videos happy to teach you!! From experience, I've learned you should have a few things right by you to ensure its an easy process. You will need 2 ponytails/Emi-Jay hair ties, bobby pins, a brush to smooth, and my favorite- HAIRSPRAY. It may take you a few tries the first time, but practice makes perfect!!
So for this week, I think everyone who should give this look a try! Have fun with it and channel your inner to star to rock this timeless look!

PS- Look for pictures and updates from me next week because I'll be heading to Market and New Orleans for jewelry buying expedition! And who knows, you might be able to spot my sock bun along for the ride!!

New Year, New Things!!

Well it's a new year, and we at FSB wanted to start sharing our inspiration for some of the things we do! We hope you find  it interesting and inspiring! So, I've been charged with the task of coming up with what inspires and influences what is ordered for the store and my own person style! I think it is vital for your style to be all about who you are or even who you want to be! For me, I want to have a savvy, playful, chic vibe that blends the traditions of the past with the new trends of the current season!! So, I can't wait to share my thoughts and ideas when it comes to one of my favorite topics, clothes and fashion!!

At this moment, I'm currently obsessed with any and everything NAVY! I'm finding ways to work it into my wardrobe in any way possible! I love that it is a nice alternative to black and brown! It's not nearly as harsh, and it seems to really pop in a crowd! So, if you haven't found a way to work it into your wardrobe, give it a try!! You can do it in even the simplest ways! For example, my nails are currently a fabulous midnight navy blue! And, I'm even rocking a navy and gold leather wrap bracelet today! Yes, even my EmiJay hair tie its Navy! 8)
